Introduction

The Center for Energy & Environmental Innovation (CEEI) is a collaborative center created through the Haas School of Business’s Management of Technology program and in partnership with the Energy & Resources Group, the College of Engineering, Boalt Hall, The Goldman School of Public Policy, College of Natural Resources, and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Molecular and Cell Biology, College of Chemistry, and the proposed Energy Biosciences Institute. CEEI bridges the gap between entities on campus, and in doing so, connects the fields of technology development, academic research, commercialization, and the policy landscape.

Mission

1) Develop the next generation of energy leaders through interdisciplinary curricula and programs
2) Increase collaboration between energy disciplines on the Berkeley campus
3) Open the Berkeley energy community to the public and private sector to foster viable solutions to global energy needs.

Programs and Initiatives

- New Courses in Energy Innovation, Project Finance and Development, and Alternative Energy
- Graduate Student Certificate in Energy and Environmental Innovation
- Student Innovation Grants
- Fellowships for Energy Commercialization Research
- Support for the 2008 UC Berkeley Energy Symposium
- Access Berkeley Database
- Technology Commercialization Forums with LBNL, UC Berkeley, and technology investors

Leadership

The Executive Directors of CEEI are Drew Isaacs and Catherine Wolfram of the Haas School of Business. The mission and objectives of the center are guided by a Steering Committee comprised of key energy researchers from across the UC Berkeley campus and Lawrence Berkeley National Labs. CEEI is also supported by its founding organization, the Berkeley Energy & Resources Collaborative, a cross-disciplinary group of graduate students studying the fields of energy, environment, and resource management.

CEEI brings together the extensive resources at UC Berkeley to create leaders in energy innovation & accelerate the transfer of energy technology from lab to market
